Volunteer in Bali

Volunteering Visa

Do I require a visa to go to Bali, Indonesia?

Visa requirements vary depending on a number of reasons when entering Indonesia: your purpose of travel, length of stay, nationality and place of residence. Please check with the Indonesian embassy for the requirements of your nationality. View your nearest Indonesian Embassy in your home country. Once your volunteer placement is approved by us, we will email you the requirements for your Visa.

Visa to Volunteering in Bali

Kindly be aware that as of February 2023, the Indonesian immigration authorities have implemented new regulations regarding the voluntary visa. It is now mandatory for all travelers coming to Indonesia for volunteering activities, regardless of their duration, to obtain the appropriate visa, known as the C6 voluntary visa.

Volunteers are no longer permitted to enter with a Visa On Arrival, tourist visa, or any other visa type, as this could lead to complications, including deportation, and sanction to our project which can result in a permanent ban.

Please adhere to these updated regulations to ensure a smooth and successful participation in our program.

Visa Agency

Here we partnered with a local visa agency in Bali and although it is slightly more expensive, we would strongly recommend this route. Not only will you have the confidence everything will be done correctly, but it will also be done within a timely manner.

The fee for obtaining the visa through the standard service (15 business days) is 3.5 million IDR, approximately £180 / $224. For a faster express service (3 working days), the cost is 4.5 million IDR, around £230 / $295.

To initiate the process, we require specific details and documents from you. It is advisable to submit all the necessary information between 60 and 90 days before your arrival date to Bali/Indonesia.

  • Color photo of your passport
  • Your photograph (white background)
  • Bank Statement of your bank account (must include your name, date of period, & account balance)
  • Contact number
  • Arrival date to Bali/Indonesia
  • Departure date from Bali/Indonesia

This visa initially grants a period of 60 days but is extendable for an additional 60 days, allowing for a total duration of 180 days (24 weeks). For volunteers planning to stay beyond the initial 60 days, either within or after the program, it is essential to apply for a visa extension at least two weeks before the expiration date.

We can facilitate the extension process through a local visa agency, streamlining the procedure. The cost for each 60-day extension is 2.8 million IDR, approximately £150 / $185. Utilizing the agency ensures a quicker process.

If you plan to arrive in Indonesia or Bali earlier than the start of your volunteering program and wish to stay during that period without leaving the country, there is no need to apply for an additional visa (e.g., VOA or tourist visa). You can directly use the C6 Voluntary Visa for this period as well. This visa is valid not only for volunteering but also for tourism purposes.

Please note, however, that once you enter Indonesia with a specific visa, it cannot be changed to another visa type without leaving the country and re-entering.
